"A professional musician since 1960, I’ve played in just about every venue imaginable including clubs, convention halls, gymnasiums, parks, shells, arenas, churches … you name it, I’ve played it. Most of the time I was either responsible for the sound or worked closely with those that were, making sure the mix was as close to perfect as possible, both in the house and in the stage monitors. Many sound techs fail to realize how important it is for the musicians and vocalists to hear both what they need and want to hear. The better musicians and singers sound to themselves, the more confident and uninhibited they will be. Hence … a better show. Hence … a happier audience! This is true for both amateurs and seasoned professionals alike. Please read further about our service and what sets us apart below. We look forward to serving you soon!"
Spud Ivens, Owner
Our goal is to provide you with the highest quality sound possible for your event. There are three major factors in achieving high quality, crystal clear sound: stage monitor mixing, house mixing, and obtaining desired volume levels in both without feedback.
Stage monitor mixing can be extremely frustrating for everyone involved. Achieving optimum clarity without feedback can be challenging, especially since 90% of all feedback in a live setting happens at the monitors. To aid ourselves in this never ending quest, at SPUDSOUND we use a dedicated monitor mixing board which provides many more paths for success. Better for us … better for the performers, and again … better for the audience!
Before a scheduled sound check, SPUDSOUND will digitally EQ the room to pre – eliminate “trouble spots” that might cause feedback, plus, our system has an automatic feedback eliminator that “patrols” the system throughout the performance. If feedback does occur, it is usually squelched within 2 or 3 seconds and will not reoccur at that frequency. Good for us … good for the performers … really good for the audience!
What we feel sets us apart, is that with SPUDSOUND, your sound will be mixed with a “musician’s ear”. Top quality equipment is great, but it's the person on the mixing board that makes it happen ... or not; creates an exciting sound ... or not; a pleasant sound ... or not. And believe me, you don't want the "or not". We strive to make sure that every instrument and every voice is heard and heard at the correct level. We are big on not just volume but the right “texture” of the sound. You will usually get far less volume complaints if the texture of your sound is really good.
At SPUDSOUND we aim to deliver our top quality sound at an affordable price. We have attempted to list our rates … something most other live sound providers will not do . To view our rates click here.
